My services

I offer counselling to individual clients from 18 years of age to more mature clients. My client group are people of any gender representing various walks of life and nationalities. I run my private practice while working from The Consulting Centre in Branksome, where you can meet me face to face. Alternatively, if you prefer online counselling, I am happy to meet with you remotely via MS Teams, Zoom or WhatsApp. All you need is internet access.

As I mentioned earlier, many of my clients seek counselling following sexual abuse, which can be an event that happened recently, or historic abuse that took place in early childhood. While working with survivors of sexual abuse and violence I use Person Centered approach combined with a trauma model. The trauma manifests itself in many ways that have detrimental effect on a person’ life. Often it can show itself in relationship problems, low self-esteem, unhappy home and family life, depression, loneliness or anxiety.

Through my work experience and training I gained skills and knowledge to help my clients not only to understand how their trauma impacted on their brain and body but also to equip them with coping techniques to manage symptoms such as panic attacks or anxiety.

Depending on my clients’ individual needs I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques into my client work. CBT offers a wide range of tools and techniques helpful to challenge and manage unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours. There may be instances when I will ask you to do some homework task in-between the sessions such as keeping a thought record or encourage an activity that we will discuss in the next session. The aim here is to set up a goal that is realistic and achievable and thus increase your confidence and self-esteem.

I offer short-term (6 to 12 sessions) and long-term counselling for individual clients who are suffering anxiety, panic attacks, depression, problems with sexuality, trauma related issues, relationship problems, anger, and stress. The length of the therapy depends on the areas you would like to explore and it is up to you to decide how long you would like the therapy to continue.

Listening

What to expect at your first visit

The initial session will be an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other and ask questions about the therapeutic process and decide whether we could work together. In this first meeting I would like to ask you about some aspects of your life in order to gain a better insight and understanding of your issues and to understand what your expectations are. Having this knowledge will help us to identify areas that are the most important to you and also choose the best way of working together.
