I offer face to face counselling to individual clients of 18 years of age or over. My client group are people of any gender representing various walks of life. Many of them seek counselling following sexual abuse, which can be an event that happened recently, or historic abuse that took place in early childhood. While working with survivors of sexual abuse and violence I use Person Centered approach combined with a trauma model. The trauma manifests itself in many ways that have detrimental effect on a person’ life. Often it can show itself in relationship problems, low self-esteem, unhappy home and family life, depression, loneliness or anxiety.
Through my work experience and training I gained skills and knowledge to help my clients not only to understand how their trauma impacted on their brain and body but also to equip them with coping techniques to manage symptoms such as panic attacks or anxiety.
Depending on my clients’ individual needs I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques into my client work. CBT offers a wide range of tools and techniques helpful to challenge and manage unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours. There may be instances when I will ask you to do some homework task in-between the sessions such as keeping a thought record or encourage an activity that we will discuss in the next session. The aim here is to set up a goal that is realistic and achievable and thus increase your confidence and self-esteem.
I offer short-term and long-term counselling for individual clients who are suffering from depression, anxiety, stress or relationship issues. The length of the therapy depends on the issues you would like to explore and it is up to you to decide how long you would like the therapy to continue.
Areas I work with
What to expect at your first visit
The initial session will be an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other and ask questions. In this first meeting I would like to ask you about some aspects of your life in order to gain a better insight and understanding of your issues and to understand what your expectations are. Having this
knowledge will help us to identify areas that are the most important to you and also choose the best way of working together. In this session I will also discuss with you the contract.
Counselling rooms I work from
My private practice is run from the The Consulting Centre which is located in Branksome. The rooms, that I am using are spacious and comfortable and offer a safe and confidential space. Please click at the highlighted area to find out more about The Consulting Centre.
How much will it cost?
The sessions last 50 minutes and the cost per session is £40. The frequency of the sessions is once a week.
The first session will be at a reduced fee of £20. Having the opportunity to meet and to get to know each other should make it easier for both of us
to decide whether we could work together.
I also offer 15 min free consultation over the phone during which you can tell me the reason why you seek counselling and what you would like to achieve through therapy. Alternatively you can send me an email. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information. I am here for You and happy to answer any questions.
